This Data Protection Policy outlines how leftos.dev and the TowerCab 3D application protect and handle data in accordance with data protection principles.
Data Protection Principles
Although TowerCab 3D does not collect personal data, we adhere to data protection principles in our design:
- Data Minimization: We do not collect any data beyond what is necessary for the application to function
- Purpose Limitation: Local settings are used solely to enhance your user experience
- Storage Limitation: No data is retained on external servers
- Transparency: We clearly communicate our data practices

Local Data Storage
All application data is stored locally on your device in standard application data directories:

You have full control over this data and can delete it at any time by removing the application's configuration folder or uninstalling the application.
Third-Party Services
TowerCab 3D interfaces with the following third-party services:
VATSIM Network
- TowerCab 3D retrieves live flight data from VATSIM's public data feed
- Authentication may use your VATSIM OAuth token
- VATSIM's data handling is governed by their own policies
- We do not store or have access to your VATSIM credentials
vNAS (Virtual National Airspace System)
- Integration with vNAS uses your existing CRC client connection
- No separate authentication or data collection by TowerCab 3D
- vNAS data handling is governed by VATSIM and vNAS policies
Cesium Ion / Map Tile Providers
- Satellite imagery and terrain data are loaded from third-party providers
- These requests are made directly to the provider's servers
- Provider privacy policies apply to these connections
Security Measures
TowerCab 3D implements the following security practices:
- No Server-Side Storage: By not operating data collection servers, we eliminate the risk of server-side data breaches
- Local-Only Configuration: Your settings never leave your device
- Secure Connections: All external API connections use HTTPS encryption
- Open Source: Our source code is publicly available for security review on GitHub
Your Rights
Since TowerCab 3D does not collect personal data:
- Access: All your data is already on your local device and accessible to you
- Deletion: You can delete all local data by uninstalling the application or removing its configuration files
- Portability: Your local configuration files can be backed up and transferred as needed
GDPR and International Compliance
TowerCab 3D's data-minimal design inherently aligns with privacy regulations including GDPR. Since we do not collect, process, or store personal data on external systems, there is no personal data processing that would require a legal basis under GDPR.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Data Protection Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. If we ever change our data practices to include data collection, we will provide clear notice and obtain any required consents.
